The Spring Reading Challenge is here! I know it isn't officially spring yet, but it's nice to have the challenges begin and end with full months. Please feel free to copy the picture and add it to a post on your own blog with a list of the books you plan to read during the months of March, April, and May. Then, leave me a comment with a link to your site, and I'll add it to the master list. This is a challenge to help us all read more--intentional reading, we like to call it. I find that I read more (and better) if I challenge myself to a list, and others apparently have found this beneficial as well. The challenges began some years ago when Janie at Seasonal Soundings put one up on her blog. She no longer has the time to host the challenges, so I took up the mantle. So, here we are. For the Winter Challenge, we had 26 participants. Look here for a list of them.
To get us all started, here is my proposed reading list for spring. It's weighted a bit toward 20th century non-fiction and literature, as I will be teaching a class on 20th C history and literature next year. I'm hopeful that my list won't need to change as much (it always morphs a bit) as it did last season--I had made my list only to decide within days that I would teach this class, and then just a few weeks later I was teaching a second semester class (this semester) on American history and literature (thru the 19th C).

A History of the English-Speaking Peoples Since 1900

Whether or not I get through this whole list remains to be seen! The last three books are part of the Puritan Reading Challenge begun this year. I have read the first two for January and February already.
Let the challenge begin!
